Rediscover Balance Through Lifestyle and Ayurvedic Consultations

We offer two options for holistic wellness counseling at Nourish & Move: Lifestyle Consultations and Ayurvedic Consultations.

Lifestyle Consultations are offered by Dr. Uma Purighalla, a retired Internal Medicine doctor. Dr. Uma has decided to switch gears from practicing Internal Medicine and instead use her training in the Vedic art of healthy living for those interested in learning what Vedic wisdom advises to improve overall well being as time marches on. She combines the art of Ayurveda with her extensive knowledge on healthy living to help her clients achieve their optimal health.

Ayurvedic Consultations are offered by Kate Mackin, NAMA certified Ayurvedic Consultant and experienced yoga teacher. Her focus is also on lifestyle adjustments, but her consultations are focused moreso on optimal nutrition.

Ayurveda is an ancient holistic healing system originating in India which offers profound insights into achieving physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through personalized approaches. Rooted in the belief that each individual is unique, Ayurveda emphasizes the balance of three fundamental energies or doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – within the body. This balance is essential for optimal health, and Ayurveda provides a comprehensive framework for achieving and maintaining it. Ayurvedic principles encompass various aspects of life, including diet, lifestyle, herbs, and therapies, all working in harmony to promote longevity and vitality.

Why Get an Ayurvedic Consultation?

Ayurvedic consultations with Kate Mackin serve as a transformative journey toward enhanced health and vitality. These consultations are not merely one-size-fits-all sessions; they are tailored experiences that delve into the intricate nuances of an individual's constitution, imbalances, and unique needs. Through careful analysis, an Ayurvedic practitioner identifies the doshic imbalances and suggests personalized recommendations, encompassing dietary adjustments, herbal supplements, lifestyle modifications, and therapeutic practices.

These consultations empower individuals to take charge of their well-being by understanding their body's natural tendencies and imbalances, thus fostering a deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit. Whether seeking relief from specific health issues or aspiring to achieve holistic equilibrium, Ayurvedic consultations provide a roadmap to a harmonious and healthier life.

Why Get a Lifestyle Consultation?

Lifestyle consultations with Dr. Uma can help you pinpoint areas of your life that need work in order to help you be your best self. Alongside of her medical training, she uses Ayurveda and yoga, two branches of ancient Indian Vedic practices, to assist in her consultations. Given that everyone’s body/mind constitution is unique, the participant will be required to complete a dosha questionnaire, dietary form, and health history form prior to the session.  Mindfulness practices, physical activity suggestions and dietary advice can be adjusted to both Western and Eastern palates. This session will typically take one hour.  All recommendations must be reviewed and approved by one’s health care provider prior to implementation.

What's Your Dosha?

Take our dosha quiz to find out

Please note that this quiz may not be entirely accurate. One of the main causes of this is unbalanced doshas. Sometimes your result will be the dosha that is most out of balance for you. If you'd like an accurate answer, please schedule a consultation with Kate, our Ayurvedic Consultant.
